Hi, It’s Claire from the EventChain team reporting on our recent visit to the World Blockchain Forum in New York City.
The World Blockchain Forum hosted a two-day conference in New York City’s Upper East Side. The Conference was attended by 40+ chosen speakers, over 1000+ CEO’s, investors and government officials,. Many thanks goes out to both Keynote AE and Doctor Moe Levin who organized the conference. The World Blockchain Forum showcased the innovative possibilities of blockchain technology and the transformative impact of cryptocurrencies on the global financial landscape. A hot topic and ongoing conversation at the conference was centered around security tokens, more specifically issues surrounding and the current state of security tokens and ICO’s.
Ashton Addison, CEO of EventChain and creator of the CryptoCoin Show, & Dino Bassanese, President of EventChain, were on-site meeting with many like-minded peers in the industry. From hearing guest speakers like Brue Fenton, CEO of Chainstone Labs, Trevor Koverko, CEO of Polymath and Peter Smyrniotis from Victory Square Ventures to name a few was extremely insightful and exciting for our team members. In addition, EventChain was able to showcase our SmartTickets platform to fellow attendees and engage with others within the Crypto community on the trade show floor.
Some of the biggest highlights from the conference were Vancouver’s own Peter Smyrniotis Victory Square Ventures had the opportunity to sit down with organizer, Dr. Moe Levin and discuss in detail the issues surround security tokens. When asked if there is any way security tokens will not be a major part of cryptocurrency’s future, Peter said: “No. they are definitively — security tokens are a necessity. They are as important to us now as any aspect of technology improving the quality of our life.” Smyrniotis went even further to compare secure tokens to apps on a smartphone. He states that “the ground-breaking advancement was not the smart phone but the apps that go along with the smart phone. They made smartphones such a vital part of modern life.” Smyrniotis asked the audience rhetorically: “who here can’t live without apps?”
Similarly, Trevor Koverko, CEO of Polymath, was one of the key speakers on the topic of security tokens. Koverko sees an intrinsic divide within security tokens and separates them distinctly into two categories, Application coins and Security coins. Koverko predicts “Security tokens will be the next beachhead that will spear the next tidal wave of tokens. He believes that “the next big wave coming will be tokens that are backed by real assets, this will dwarf application tokens.”
After such an exciting conference we can only expect bigger and better things when looking forward to the next forum in London, held September 3- 5, 2018.
We’re now back to the offices in Vancouver, and excited to launch our MVP platform in the coming weeks! You’ll be hearing more from us shortly as we announce some major releases with the SmartTickets platform.
